Portable ?

Portable software runs from your USB storage device without installation. You can carry it in your pocket and use it on any PC - no special permissions needed. When you are done, you remove your USB storage and take it with you without leaving any traces on the PC you used.

Is it free?

Portable Python is free from the day one and it will stay free forever. No hidden costs or fees! However, if you like this project and you would like to support further development, you can always consider monetary donation.

Windows only? Is there any Linux/Unix/Mac version of Portable Python ?

No, not right now. Those operating system usually come with Python pre-installed. If there is enough need for more platforms we will think about porting Portable Python to those platforms.

I don't have any USB storage device, can I still use it?

Yes, you can extract it to your hard drive and it will run without problems.

Portable? So it will work even on my Pocket PC?

No. Portable Python is Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7 application. It can not work ON pocket PC but it will work from pocket PC if you use it just like external drive.

After installation I see splash screen and nothing happens. Why ??

When application/IDE included in Portable Python is started for the first time it is possible that you will experience longer delay than normal because Python needs time to compile scripts needed for that application to run. Just wait and application will start.
